Frequently asked questions

Direct can printing is a digital process that prints your artwork straight onto an aluminium beverage can — no labels, no shrink sleeves. Each can is pre-treated, printed in full CMYK plus opaque white using UV inkjet, then sealed with a protective varnish. The result is a seamless 360° wraparound design.

We offer low MOQ can printing from around 1,000 cans — accessible for craft brewers, kombucha makers, RTD launches and limited editions. No rigid maximum either: we scale to hundreds of thousands of cans for high-turnover brands.

We print on all standard aluminium beverage can formats — Sleek (250, 330, 355 ml), Slim (250, 300 ml), Standard/Classic (330, 355, 375, 440, 500 ml). Specialty formats are available on request.

Standard turnaround is 2–4 weeks from approved artwork. Express options are available for urgent launches — talk to our team for current lead times.

Yes. We produce simulated metallic effects (gold, silver, copper, bronze) and matte/gloss spot finishes directly on the can — without the cost of pre-metallised cans. For raised high-build, real foil or emboss effects, those are available on labels via our digital ABG embellishment line.

Yes. Each can is pre-treated for ink adhesion and finished with a UV-cured protective varnish designed for the full beverage supply chain — chilled storage, iced environments, condensation, and ice-bucket conditions.

Yes — significantly. Direct printing eliminates the plastic film used in shrink sleeves (around 1.1 tonnes of single-use plastic per million cans) and the adhesive used in pressure-sensitive labels. The finished can is a single aluminium material that stays fully recyclable.

For short to medium runs — typically 1,000 – 50,000 cans — direct printing is more cost-effective than shrink sleeves: no plate, cylinder or sleeve-tooling costs. At very high volumes, shrink sleeves may close the gap on price, but direct printing retains the speed, flexibility and sustainability advantages.

Yes. Digital printing supports variable data natively, so you can print sequential numbers, QR codes, batch and lot codes, “limited edition X of Y” numbering, and even multiple artworks in a single production run with no setup penalty.

We can supply standard aluminium can stock from our partners, or print on cans you’ve already sourced. Talk to us about your existing stock and we’ll confirm compatibility and pre-treatment requirements.

We focus on print decoration. We work alongside Australia’s leading mobile and stationary canning lines and are happy to recommend trusted filling partners based on your location and product type.
