Onpack runs HP Indigo digital presses (liquid electrostatic ink, not generic toner-based digital), UV flexo with 10 colour stations for true Pantone spot colour at volume, and an in-house digital ABG embellishment line for hot foil, cold foil, high-build tactile varnish and soft-touch lamination. 100% camera inspection on every job. ISO9001 certified processes.
Sydney-based label suppliers typically describe their process as "digital" or "offset." Onpack runs HP Indigo — liquid electrostatic ink technology that produces a thinner, more consistent ink layer than toner or inkjet, with photo-grade colour depth and consistent output across the entire run. For Sydney brand owners who have been burned by inconsistent colour between runs, this distinction matters.
For Sydney brands with run volumes above 30,000 labels or requiring exact spot Pantone match, Onpack's UV flexo press is the correct process. It runs up to 10 colour stations, in-line cold foil, lamination and spot UV varnish — in-line, at volume, with genuine Pantone ink. Most Sydney-based digital-only converters cannot offer this without outsourcing.
Hot foil, cold foil, high-build tactile varnish, holographic substrates, soft-touch lamination, emboss, deboss, spot UV — all completed on Onpack's production floor at Mount Waverley. Sydney brands don't need to manage multiple suppliers for premium embellishment. One supplier handles print and finish on the same job.
Every Onpack job — regardless of run length — passes through a 100% vision camera inspection system before dispatch. Colour, register and defect detection verified across every label in the run. ISO9001 certified processes. This is not standard practice at Sydney's local or short-run converters.
Sydney's craft brewing scene — Inner West, Northern Beaches, Western Sydney, Newcastle, Central Coast — runs short-run multi-SKU label work on HP Indigo. Seasonal releases, limited editions, core range consistency across 8–15 SKUs in a single job. For breweries moving to cans, Onpack's direct-to-can service runs at Dandenong, dispatching to Sydney alongside label orders.
Hunter Valley, Mudgee, Orange, Southern Highlands, Hilltops, Riverina — NSW wine regions with strong premium packaging expectations. Estate textured papers (Bright White Felt, Cotone Bianco), hot foil registration, emboss, deboss, varnish. Onpack runs the substrate range and finish capability that Hunter Valley estate wine labels require.
Sydney food brands, farmers' market traders and growth FMCG — short-run product launches on HP Indigo, variable batch codes and QR codes, compliance-ready prepress for allergen and nutrition panels. For brands scaling from launch to retail, flexo provides the unit-cost advantage at volume while maintaining the same brand standard.
Sydney's cosmetic and personal care brand sector — no-label-look clear labels, soft-touch lamination, gold foil, emboss. Premium finishes that position product at the shelf against international competition. BOPP clear, PET silver, premium coated white — all substrates run on both HP Indigo and flexo.
Pharmaceutical distributors and compounding pharmacies across NSW requiring serialised labels, variable batch/lot/expiry data, and 100% camera-verified print integrity. Onpack's variable data capability and camera inspection process meet the traceability requirements for TGA-regulated products.
Western Sydney's industrial corridor — GHS-compliant hazard labels, durable synthetic substrates (PET, BOPP), permanent and aggressive adhesives, chemical-resistant overlaminates. Industrial label requirements that go beyond what a short-run digital print shop can supply.
The right substrate depends on the product surface, storage conditions and finish specification. Onpack runs the full substrate range relevant to Sydney's food, beverage, cosmetic and industrial markets:
Sydney metro receives overnight road freight on standard dispatches. New jobs: HP Indigo digital runs ship in days from approved artwork; UV flexo in 1–3 weeks depending on substrate and finishing. Air freight is available for urgent requirements. Reorders of unchanged artwork are typically faster.
Yes — Hunter Valley, Mudgee, Orange, Newcastle, Central Coast, Wollongong and surrounding NSW regions are 1–2 business days; Riverina and further regional NSW 2–3 days. Onpack ships Australia-wide and will confirm freight timing at the quoting stage.
For straightforward paper labels on standard substrates, a local Sydney printer may suit the job. For premium finishes — hot foil, cold foil, emboss, holographic, no-label-look, soft-touch — Onpack’s in-house embellishment range is wider than any Sydney-based converter. If finish quality and brand presentation matter, the overnight freight is not a meaningful trade-off.
Yes — request a sample pack and it will be dispatched to your Sydney address. The pack includes recent output across substrates and finishes relevant to your product category.
Yes — craft brewery multi-SKU short-run label printing on HP Indigo is a core capability. All variants run in a single job at consistent colour, no plate tooling per SKU. For Sydney breweries moving to cans, Onpack’s direct-to-can service is available alongside label orders.
Yes — estate textured papers (Bright White Felt, Cotone Bianco, Crystal Salt White), registered hot foil, emboss, deboss, spot varnish. These are standard capabilities on Onpack’s production floor, not outsourced embellishment. See Wine Label Printing →.
Yes. Full variable data is available on HP Indigo — unique text, images, barcodes and QR codes on every label in the run, with no speed penalty or additional setup cost. Widely used for batch tracking, QR-linked authentication, personalisation and pharmaceutical serialisation.
From around 100 labels on HP Indigo digital. There are no print plates on digital, so short runs are commercially viable. UV flexo is better suited to runs above 3,000–5,000 labels where the plate investment is offset by lower unit cost.
Onpack prints to artwork supplied — we do not pre-flight for FSANZ, TGA or GHS compliance. Artwork for food labels, cosmetic labels and pharmaceutical labels must be compliance-checked by the brand owner or their regulatory advisor before submission to print.
Print-ready PDF is the standard format. Variable data jobs require a structured data file (CSV or equivalent) alongside the artwork PDF. Onpack’s prepress team will confirm bleed, colour mode and variable field setup before production.
