Environmental & Eco Labels

Compostable-certified, recycled-content and recyclable label stocks paired with solvent-free UV inks — for brands that need to back their sustainability claims with documentation. APCO-ready specs and ARL artwork support included.

Eco-Friendly Labels and Packaging

Eco-friendly labels use recyclable substrates, such as polypropylene, and lower-waste production processes, including direct can printing, to reduce a product's packaging footprint without sacrificing durability or shelf appeal.

Onpack's approach to sustainable packaging is built around Australia's National Packaging Targets, giving brands a practical path to more responsible labelling.

Where Eco Labels Matter Most

Eco labels are in highest demand across organic and natural food and beverage, personal care and cosmetics, household cleaning products, health and wellness, and FMCG brands working toward packaging reduction targets or B Corp certification. Retailers and procurement teams increasingly require documented sustainability data at the component level — label face stock, adhesive and liner — as part of broader APCO Member Report submissions. For brands selling into markets with active extended producer responsibility (EPR) schemes, the ability to specify an independently certified compostable or recyclable label construction, backed by a data sheet, is becoming a commercial requirement rather than a marketing preference.

Meeting APCO targets with the right materials

Australia's National Packaging Targets, set through APCO, push brands toward recyclable, reusable or compostable packaging, and label choice is a meaningful part of hitting those commitments.

Onpack works with suppliers to align material options with evolving sustainability standards, helping customers select substrates that support their own APCO reporting without compromising on print quality.

This sits alongside Onpack's ISO9001 certified processes and quality controls, which ensure sustainable materials still perform to the same standard as conventional stock.

Ask whether your chosen substrate is recyclable through standard council programs, and whether production waste, not just material choice, is genuinely being reduced by your printer.

Frequently asked questions

Onpack stocks compostable-certified paper and film (AS 4736 commercial and AS 5810 home compost), post-consumer recycled (PCR) content BOPP and paper, kraft and unbleached natural paper, and recyclable film constructions. All substrates on Onpack’s substrate guide are available — request a sample pack to assess real material feel before specifying.
Recyclable means the label construction can enter a kerbside or soft-plastic recycling stream. Recycled-content means the face stock contains a percentage of post-consumer recycled fibre or film. Compostable means independently certified to break down into compost — AS 4736 covers industrial composting and AS 5810 covers home composting. The terms are not interchangeable and each requires specific substrate and adhesive construction to be defensible.
Yes. Onpack offers paper and biopolymer film stocks certified to AS 4736 (industrial composting) and AS 5810 (home composting), with certification documentation available for on-pack claims and APCO reporting.
Yes. Onpack provides full spec documentation — face stock, adhesive and liner — suitable for APCO Member Report Tools, and supports correct Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) artwork and bin icon placement at the component level.
A high-resolution PDF is the preferred format. If your label includes ARL bin icons or sustainability claim copy, send a draft for review before final production — Onpack’s prepress team will flag any claims that are not supported by the specified material construction.
